RESHAFT - .350 tip in place of .335 tip

23 August 2008 - 01:58 AM

Want to reshaft a titleist 980f 3 wood. The original shaft is a .335 tip and the new shaft (a Purple Ice 85 gram) is .350 tip.  Should this be a routine job for any experienced club maker - even those at Golfsmiths or Golf Galaxy? Also since the club is a Bore-through - what should I tip the shaft if any? In a non-bore thru Graphite Design says to tip 1" for a 3 wood but this is a bore-thru. I want HIGH ball flight.

Can someone explain ...V2 vs. Prolaunch RED

08 June 2008 - 10:31 PM

Two PING 24 degree hybrids one with Regular Flex V2 High Launch other with STIFF flex Prolaunch RED. The club with the RED hits MUCH higher and even balloons a bit compared with the V2. Isn't the RED supposed to hit LOW and the V2 HL high?.   Maybe there is manufacturer variance in the stated lofts and the club with the RED is a degree or more higher than the club with the V2. Any explanations?

How does Proquip compare to Zero Restriction or other outer/rain wear.

PLAYERS - Playoff Format - don't like it.....

11 May 2008 - 10:49 PM

I like #17 just where it is during regulation play (Not making it the 8th hole like Tiger wants). It forces the players to execute under pressure at the end of their rounds and during the final round. However, if there is a playoff after 72 holes where players are tied - I do not feel that #17 is the place to start it. While I do not think #17 is a gimmick hole, If players are tied after such a grueling 72 hole test - to have the playoff start on #17 introduces too much luck (wind gusts) to determine the winner. I'm not saying that #17 should be avoided - - more like #18 - then #17, #18 - then #16,#17,#18 and back again. Or even a three hole total 16,17,18 then sudden death starting at 18 with the progression I suggest above. While it may be exciting to start the playoff on #17 I think it lessens the prestige of the PLAYERS tournament.

Footjoy REEL-FIT shoes

31 March 2008 - 02:10 AM

Any opinions about the REEL-FIT vs Dryjoy Optiflex. How reliable (durability) is the BOA lacing system. I tried it and it was so easy to use with perfect fit time after time but I wanted to know if any have used these shoes for a long period and how the lacing system hold up - especially vs the Dryjoy Optiflex.
